Robison Mansion: Georgia & Kent

Good morning and happy Saturday!  I somehow managed to get the weekend off so John and I are going out to celebrate my 26th birthday today!  But before those festivities get started, I wanted to show you Georgia and Kent’s wedding.

Georgia and Kent are a friendly Missouri couple, who decided to do a destination wedding close to family in Cañon City.  They were scheduled to tie the knot just a mile or two from the Royal Gorge Bridge .  However, the day before their wedding was the day the Royal Gorge fire started.  I believe Georgia was rafting and Kent was zip lining when they got word that they needed to evacuate ASAP.   Needless to say, their wedding plans were completely changed in a second. Fortunately, the beautiful Robinson Mansion was available on short notice.

All fires aside, Georgia and Kent’s wedding was one to be remembered regardless.  These two have had their hard times.  I’ll never forget how sincerely Georgia told me she knew Kent was the one.  She said, from the second he entered the room, she got this chill through her body and she new instantly he was the one.  She said it truly was love at first sight.

By the time Kent was ready to pop the question, tragedy struck Georgia’s family when her two oldest children died in a plane crash.

They decided to move forward with the wedding and you know, I just am so thankful that Kent met Georgia when he did.  I am so thankful that they had each other as they moved forward and processed this unimaginable event.

I am also so amazed at how these two have persevered and how much positivity, love, and excitement poured from them on their wedding day.  Obviously, this was an extremely emotional day as well.  I am so very honored to be the one to capture it.

Georgia and Kent, thank you.  Thank you for trusting me.  For being vulnerable with me.  You two are often in my prayers.  May the Good Lord bless you and keep you.  And remember, it’s a family thing. ;-)

So much love and joy to you always,
René

P.S. And incredibly special thank you to Miss Amanda Lamb and Miss Rachel Havel for helping me out this wedding.  What a day!  Half way through the day, Amanda found out her home was being evacuated  due to the Black Forest Fire.  Heroically, Rachel Havel saved the day with her quick commitment to fill in.  I am so thankful for this sweet little community of Colorado Springs photographers!  What a day ladies.  Couldn’t have done it without you.  xoxo

Rene- I have admired your work quietly for years, you are one of the most talented photographers I know and usually I admire the photos but don’t comment. This wedding was different, not because I know these people, I rarely know the people you work with, but this wedding had so much emotion in it, and YOU captured it! The photo of the older gentleman with his hand on the groom (I presume the grooms father) brought me to tears. What a special moment that they have forever captured in your photo. Another fabulous job, Rene!
