I feel like just the luckiest to do this job! Lauren & Ryan are an RTP couple from just last year. We did their snowy mountaintop engagement photos near Woodland Park, Colorado. And what a blast we had. Their positivity, ease, and sweetness towards one another makes them such a joy to be around. They have the most beautiful, fun personalities, and now, they get to share that love with a little babe due next month!
I like my maternity sessions like I like my engagement sessions – couple focused. Sure there are references to that sweet miracle growing inside mom, but these sessions are just as much about, if not more, the mom & dad. Cause you see, when your marriage is strong, your parenting flourishes. Sometimes I think the best gift parents can give their child is to show her how in love they are. (Yes, I’m saying her, because I think this babe is a girl! Lauren & Ryan are going to be surprised!)
These two came out for a true adventure! When they wrote asking if I was available on a certain date, I said, Welllll technically I’ll be in Colorado, but I’ll be up at the family cabin on a hunting trip! (Deer and elk season had just started the day we shot these images). Every year I hunt up in this area and think, what a gorgeous place for a photo shoot. I knew after our last adventurous shoot and their love for the outdoors, these two might be just the couple to bring up to the Tate Family Cabin. Of course, these two were game for adventure! There’s no cell service at the Tate Family Cabin, so a couple of satellite images of some dusty county roads and “turn when you see the old boots hanging on the fence” directions later, these two made it! We then hopped in their truck and drove to the top of a nearby mountain for the most gorgeous sunset.
Ryan & Lauren, I cannot wait to meet this little babe. You two keep your marriage first and everything else will fall into place! You’re going to make the best parents. She’s a lucky little gal to have you as her folks.
