When I look back on Nancy & Jim’s day, I can’t help but think how it must’ve been everything they ever dreamed of and more. You see, it was perfect. Flawless. A blue bird, fall day in Colorado, surrounded by a handful of cold and cloudy days on either side. There were decade-old friends from far and wide. The most gorgeous blooms I’ve ever laid eyes on. And the most tender moment between families. Not to mention, Nancy & Jim were complete and total knock outs.
You see, I’ve journeyed with Jim for years. We’ve shared so many Old-Fashioneds and Cosmopolitans, I can’t count. More prayer requests than I could ever remember. It must’ve been 2012 when I joined Jim’s small group. I was the new girl. And I remember, I liked him instantly. I knew we would be good friends. Jim and that small group were my people, my rock, in a season of life when I felt super alone as John deployed and all my old friends had moved. Since then, I’ve deepened this sweet friendship with Jim and heard about a few dates here and there and talks of his dream woman. Let me just say, Nancy, you far surpass any dream gal that I’ve ever heard of!!
You are a picture of love, grace, forgiveness, ambition, smiles, and knows how to have a good time. Your steady confidence and peace never wavered once amidst the wedding day details and little stresses. Nancy, I’m so blessed to have gotten to know you over the last year and to call you friend. I think you and me were cut from the same cloth and I look forward to hanging out with you more and more. Please come visit us in Scottsdale this winter!
I am just SO thrilled the Lord brought these two together. There were so many moments when editing their images when I uttered aloud, “Awwww JIM!” because of the way he looked and loved on Nancy. It’s just the sweetest thing to see. Her entrance to the ceremony is to die for folks, so many beautiful, heart-felt moments there. Jim might actually have my favorite grooms reaction that I’ve seen. Aaand, Jim is also the first groom to SING A SONG to his wife during the ceremony. God Bless the Broken Road. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. I loved watching him practice all morning. :) :)
This day went off without a hitch and I’m so grateful for all the extra time they gave me to photograph them. We had a solid hour to do their first look and portraits, and then another half hour or when the sun began to set. They even requested I bring my grey backdrop so we can do some super timeless, regal portraits. Can we talk about my ideal clients, folks? Even more so because they’re friends.
Nancy & Jim, may the Lord bless you and keep you as your begin your life together. God Bless the Broken Road!
With love & joy,
René
