If there was ever a wedding I could shoot over and over it would be this one.
I first met Ben and his family at his brother Tom’s wedding in 2012. I loved them instantly. His parents so full of the joy of the Lord, so warm and grateful. When they emailed from Indiana and said Ben was marrying a beautiful teacher from Colorado Springs who loved the Lord, I just knew I had to be there. And when they said the venue, Glen Eyrie Castle, I knew I really had to make it work. So I met with Anna, to make sure we were a good fit, and I knew right away I was going to adore her as well.
Now Ben was a pretty quiet groomsmen at his brother’s wedding, so I didn’t get to know him very well. It wasn’t until Anna & Ben’s engagement shoot that I got a sense for the man he was. He’s definitely the strong silent type, but what spoke the loudest and shined the brightest was his love & joy for Anna. This guy really comes alive around her. And of course, Anna radiates even brighter knowing she is pursued by a Godly man.
Their wedding was one of intention, joy, military pride, and beauty. Oh, and a little bit of rain mid-ceremony that had us all shaking in our boots. What I loved most about this day, in addition to the gorgeous, one-of-a-kind venue, was Anna & Ben’s chemistry, all their pretty bridesmaids, Anna’s veil intricately made by her grandmother, the table full of old family wedding photos, reconnecting with Ben’s parents and RTP couple Victoria & Tom, and finally, the dancing. Boy, was there some dancing.
Anna & Ben, I am so thrilled for the new chapter unfolding before you. Being an Air Force wife is the best. I get a little nostalgic thinking back to my & John’s military life — picnic dates on base, commissary sushi, and lying in the grass watching planes take off. Alaska is my second home. You’re going to love it. If there is anything John and I can ever do for you, especially since John is in the same line of work as Ben, we’d love to help. Thank you for allowing me to join you on your wedding day. May these images be held at your own granddaughter’s wedding someday, 54 years from now.
With Love & Joy,
René
