Ooooh, it’s here. Engagement season is upon us! The off-season is behind us! I am so excited to get back to doing what I love and shooting a bunch! (Not that web site updates, and admin stuff wasn’t fun…)
And there is nothing like getting back to the heart of Colorado and shooting these two beloved ones! This session almost didn’t happen on account of torrential downpours! But the good Lord gave us a window in the afternoon, and we only got a little rain spitting at us at the beginning. We were so grateful for some pretty cloud cover too! What I love about this session is just how casual, simple, and joy filled it is. And the mountains. Oh the mountains!!
Ash & Matt are just blessings. I walked into Ash’s house before the shoot and felt right at home! Having only met Ash as a bridesmaid at Makenzie & Alex’s wedding, it was our first time meeting as an RTP bride! And that was also my first time meeting Matt, so we just hung out in Ash’s living room and talked about love and life before venturing out to shoot. After chatting with them for a while, it became clear what a joy-filled couple sat before me. And that their joy got louder & brighter when the other one entered the room. I’m pretty sure Matt said it best when he told me there is nothing he would rather do on this planet more than to just BE with Ash.
It was clear to me that these images needed to capture just that – these two just enjoying each other’s presence & joy.
I am so so stoked for their wedding next month at Chatfield Botanic Gardens! I look forward to blogging more about this come their wedding, but these two are just incredibly intentional and thoughtful towards those around them. Can’t wait to witness these two wed & celebrate. Also looking forward to a reunion with so many RTP couples!!
Ash & Matt, thanks for hangin’ out. You guys bring a big smile to my face and a fullness to my heart. Love you.
With so much joy,
René
We started their engagement photos at Chautauqua Park against Boulder’s amazing Flat Irons!
This image below is one my faves… the way Matt just envelopes her!
Okay, so here is that awesome smile I was talking about in my Instagram yesterday!
Ash has this amazing black hair which I can’t help but comment on the irony that it’s ash in color.
It was hard to find a spot that wasn’t soggy after days and days of nonstop rain, but these guys took one for the team!
LOVE these two of Ash!! Love the motion in them! And her beauty!
K, so I’m just gonna say it… Pacey Witter from Dawson’s Creek?!
From Chautauqua Park we ventured up the mountain to the spot where Matt asked Ash to be his wife! <3
There’s something about this image… I feel like it was taken in Iceland!
I asked Ash if she’d take a photo of me and she made me swear I’d post it,
along with our fun self-timed shot that required leaping across rocky ravines!
Thanks for not getting my too-legit-to-quit hiking boots in the frame.
Our last stop of the night took us to Louisville, Colorado for their favorite ice cream at Sweet Cow!
We also ran into RTP bride Kirsten while out and about in L-Ville!
Ash has so many amazing, Christ-centered tattoos!
The two are having a Sweet Cow Moo Mobile at their wedding! So pumped.
