Grab your tissues.
And watch this.
Now isn’t that the dream? The hope? That 75 years from now your love will be 75 times sweet than it was the day you said, “I do?”
I think Fred and Lorranie put this whole wedding thing into perspective.
In this keeping-up-with-the-Joneses world and a day and age where photos are reproduced so quickly and sharing with millions happens in a click it is so easy to get wrapped up in the wedding scene. In planning a wedding: what table cloths you’ll use. The center pieces you’ll cut out of aspen trees. How the heck you’re going to paint words on a giant photobooth backdrop. What type of tuxedo shirt the guys will wear. What color you’ll die your shoes.
All fun stuff… but that’s just the wedding.
I don’t know about you, but I want a marriage more.
So here’s to fighting through the tough times and sticking with it even though it’d be so easy to quit. To keeping your vows. To constantly, daily practicing grace and forgiveness, cause really that’s the only way it works, along with a bit of compromise and patience and of course, love. Here’s to seeing the bigger picture. That it’s not just about today and this moment and this one thing you two are struggling with. But the legacy you will leave. Here’s to the next 75 years… because I think marriage really does get sweeter with age.
