Engaged: Lacey & Stew

Good afternoon!  Happy Thursday – the weekend is almost here!  I hope you stay warm this evening, maybe curl up on a couch, and catch up on the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy or Modern Family with a cup of coffee made by your Keurig. :-) That’s what I’d be doing anyway…

This cold weather just seems to follow Lacey and Stew – not only on the day we shot their images (37 degrees!) but even a snow storm on the day we blog them.  Let’s just hope their September wedding is a bit warmer. :-)

I’m not sure if I’ve ever met a more sincere and kind couple.  Every time I travel, I get an email from sweet Lacey wishing me well and letting me know that she and Stew are keeping me in their prayers.  How blessed am I?

We met up at the beautiful Mueller State Park in Divide, Colorado for their engagement portraits.  These two spend a lot of time camping in summers.  It was upon a log, around a campfire where they first said, “I love you” to one another. Or as Lacey puts it, “We fell in love camping.”  *sigh* I know, right?

Lacey made another comment to me right before we started shooting that stung me.  In a good way.

I want our children to see these and know that’s what mom and dad were like when they were young.

Ah!

That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?  I’ll be blogging more on the power of prints soon.  Stay tuned.

Stew and Lacey.  Blessed am I to know you.  Thank you for being a part of my world.

With joy and love,
René

Ahhhh!  Love love love.

So Lacey’s got these eyes…

It was riiiiight about here that we shot surrounded by 10 sets of eyes.
Deer eyes that is.  Points to whomever can spots them in the next few images.

Love this setting.  This blanket.  These people.  So exotic!

And then there was this light… Ah, the light…

Stew is pretty much a rockstar with his 40-something-year-old Bronco.  With no heat. ;-)  Try driving that to a 37-degree photo shoot.

He’s also a whiz behind the campfire.

With 20 years of experience, I bring a calm, steady presence to your most meaningful days. I specialize in documenting relationships over time—from weddings and anniversaries to babies and families—with a love for black-and-white imagery, honest moments, and photographs that belong in albums, not just on a feed. There are no forced poses or “pretend to” prompts here, only space for what’s real. I’m not just here for the highlight; I’m here for the history you’re creating.

And I can't wait to capture your story
