What a dreamy little newborn shoot this was! I don’t typically post newborn sessions, but after having a few kids of my own, I am starting to have a huge heart for these little guys and am wanting to start shooting more of these. So you’ll see some cuties more often on my space!
Usually, when people think newborn photos, often these extremely cute, styled type of images come to mind:
While these are so adorable, these are not typically my jam. I believe these need to be a photographer’s specialty, with a dedicated studio, wraps, cloths, outfits, props, etc. etc. And sooooo much retouching.
Love them, but my specialty and passion lies in the relationships — like in this session with Sarah & Nick and their interaction with their kids and their older kids with Newborn Landon. I spent a few hours at their home (always working around feedings, diaper changes, etc.) and we’ll photographed the three kids together, dad & baby, mom & baby, mom & dad with baby, everyone together, and just baby alone! As well as some of those little in between moments that happen in everyday life.
For Landon’s solo portraits, Sarah wanted to capitalize on a more organic style and organic posing — how would Landon be naturally. The baby alone pictures can be slightly more styled — if you have a basket or wraps you want to use that’s fine. I’ll bring a few special things to make these easier and help keep baby asleep, like white noise, heating pad, etc. I also have a few of those cheese cloth wraps to choose from if you want.
Of course you’ll receive all the edited digital files. Newborns always require special retouching of red marks, dry skin flakes, etc. etc. So I include that on your faves and mine. I also include a René Tate Legacy Box of prints. Throughout the years, I’ve done a bunch of these shoot for couples but hardly ever posted them since I was mostly pure weddings. I’m working on a rebrand now and an online portfolio of my work. So for now, I’m attaching several of my newborn lifestyle images so you get a feel for the vibe.
