Oooh, today is the day!! Finally, it’s time to show you Priscilla & Ben’s Canadian Pre-Wedding Photography Experience!
I’ve always said that what I love most about this job is its unpredictability. I just never know where it’s going to take me from year to year and who I’ll meet. For a girl raised in a small prison town in Colorado, I never imagined the possibilities that existed. My heart is just so incredibly grateful for the opportunities my camera, and ultimately, the good Lord, has given me.
Priscilla (Pree) and Ben emailed me in February, inquiring about their own engagement session, saying, “I’ve always loved your photographs, and wished I could appear in them one day!” Pree & Ben are both from Singapore, where Pree currently resides. And Ben proudly serves his country as a part of the Republic of Singapore Air Force; he’s currently living in Canada on an exchange program with the Canadian Air Force.
All that to say, on a cold, Canada day, Ben proposed to Pree on the tarmac by his plane back this past winter and the two are getting married in April 2016 back in Singapore! I feel like the luckiest to be the one to photograph their pre-wedding images! “Pre-wedding photography” is kind of like westerner’s version of engagement photos/bridal portraits – the couple wears a mix of casual clothes, plus a gown & suit. The images are put on display all around their wedding banquet. Many Asian cultures do pre-wedding photos, and the majority do rigidly formal, posed shots in a studio. However, the younger generations are going abroad and shooting in a lighter, more candid way against very unique backdrops. (Our Iceland & Keystone pre-wedding images can be seen here and here, respectively.)
I have SO much more to say about who Ben & Pree are as people. I will save that for Part II of their Canadian pre-wedding photography adventure!
To kick off this THREE PART series, we begin at Lake Louise in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.
Ben & Priscilla, I know I’ve gained two new friends through this adventure and I am just so humbled by your trust & confidence in me. Thank you for allowing me to journey with you. I look forward to the day I tour Singapore through your eyes & guidance! I hope these images bless you two greatly and you can see the beauty in you both that the rest of the world sees when they look at you.
So much love & joy to you,
René

From the milky, glacier-fed Lake Louise we drove to her neighbor, Moraine Lake, and had a little adventure canoeing, climbing rocky knolls, and balancing on slippery, wet logs! Moraine Lake’s color is perhaps a little more breathtaking than Louise, and I assure you, the color in the above & below images is straight out of the camera. A glorious wonder!

A quick stop on our way to Moraine Lake to capture the jagged, Canadian Rocky Mountains – albeit a rainy stop!

Moraine Lake – quiet, empty, tourist-less after the rain!

Pree in her wedding gown!

Stay tuned this week for Part II and III of Priscilla & Ben’s Singaporean PreWedding Photography Experience!
