I’d just moved into my house, so we had our initial meeting at Panera Bread since my studio was a wreck.
We chatted over coffee. We spoke of how they met. Where they work. Their families. It was great. Truly. Yet, I walked away from initial meeting, for some crazy reason thinking, “I definitely don’t think these two are going to hire me.” I just got this feeling they didn’t dig me!
Then a week or so later I got an email from Sam for a follow up meeting. This time we met at my house. And it went so well that I got this terrific note from Sam on personalized letterhead in the mail:
René,
We just wanted to say thank you again for meeting with us Friday evening. It is easy to forget that we were talking about business; rather, it feels as though the three of us are fast becoming friends. You have really added so much to the wedding process and Patricia and I are so excited to have you be a part of our wedding day. We have great confidence about the memories you will capture. Thank you so much for your friendliness and for the hospitality. You have a great new home, and we wish you all the greatest success. Looking forward to making memories!
In Him,
Sam
And after that letter, I knew they were my kind of couple and we were in for a long friendship. :-) How could I have misjudged our first meeting so incorrectly?!
Sam is a lawyer in the Air Force and Patricia is a school teacher. And they’re perfect for each other. Both so full of wisdom and have everything in common. :-) Sam and Patricia, this night was a blasty blast. I loved our time at Marigolds over excellent wine and talks of world travels, hot-button political issues, and your love story. I can’t wait to do more of that at the Blue Star. Thank you so much for sending John and me there! We loved half price bottle night! Looking forward to buying you two a bottle soon.
Cannot wait for your Glen Eyrie wedding this fall!
So much love and joy to you,
René
