This is Sarah. We went to college together. Though, we never spent much time with each other. We had a lot of mutual friends and sure enough, one thing led to another and I ending up photographing lots of our friends’ weddings. For YEARS this girl has been an RTP supporter. And I couldn’t hardly wait until it was her turn. Until then, I was delighted to see her comments on nearly every blog post. Sarah, I love you so for that.
A couple of years ago, Sarah moved to Nashville. Naturally, she started attending a new church. One day she was playing Ultimate Frisbee and met this handsome, southern gentleman named Michael. Quickly, their romance engulfed them and they were engaged to be married. Michael admits to not being able to get Sarah out of his head and knew without a doubt that the Lord had brought him his wife.
When I first met these two as a couple we chatted over some sweet FaceTime on our iPhones. I’m pretty sure it was then that Sarah described their relationship as corny.
Dictionary.com defines “corny” as old-fashioned, trite, or lacking in subtlety.
It wasn’t until we met in person that I knew exactly what she was talking about. :-)
Their love is corny. Because, you see, it is old-fashioned. It’s purposeful, romantic, and chivalrous.
And it is trite. Their love and affection to one another is repetitive. And that is a very good thing.
And by corny, if Sarah meant their relationship is lacking in subtlety, she was right about that too. There is nothing subtle about their love. It’s loud. And it’s strong. It’s there to stay.
And I love everything about their love. :-) And corny… it is a very good adjective.
I love that Sarah posted this on her Facebook. It is so them.
You are the cheese to my macaroni. You are the horizon to my sky. You are the bacon to my eggs. You are the laces to my sneakers. You are the jelly to my peanut butter. You are the smile to my face. You are the gravy to my mashed potatoes. You are the bubbles to my bath. You are the milk to my cookie. You are the ink to my pen. You are the ketchup to my French fries. You are the water to my ocean. You are the icing to my cupcake.
Michael and Sarah, thank you. Thanks for not only being an RTP supporter and encourager for years (Sarah!) but for trusting me and giving me the honor to photograph the most magical, blessed day of your lives. I love you to the moon and back and am so glad to call you friends.
So much love and joy to you,
René
Sarah and Michael and I met up in Breckenridge in early January. You notice that Sarah and Michael are pretty much hugging each other in every shot. That’s because it was 8 degrees and we were frozen. :-) But boy did we have fun. And kudos to these two for coordinating the cutest winter outfits!
