Lake Superior: Aimee & Keven

There are moments in life that pictures simply can’t do justice.

I’m embarrassed to say that as a professional photographer, there is just that dimension I can’t capture.  I’m not sure what that dimension is, exactly.  Perhaps it’s that feeling you get when you think, “It doesn’t get any better than this.”  When you’re swept away by the beauty in front of you.

You know, when your breath is taken away.

How do you photograph breathlessness?

Over the 4th of July holiday, I was blessed to have the opportunity to visit a part of our beautiful country for the first time: the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where my breath was truly taken away.

Next to Iona, Scotland, these images of Aimee and Keven at Lake Superior are by far some of the prettiest scenes you’ll see on this blog.

Aimee has been a friend of mine for 14 years and seeing her with her future husband is a pretty neat experience.  Aimee’s mom told me, “The way he looks at her! You can just tell he really adores her.”  I saw it first hand, and rather than describe it, I think these images speak louder than words…

Keven and Aimee, THANK YOU for having me and showing me around your beautiful town of Marquette, Michigan.  I love you two to the moon and back and can hardly wait until October!

So much love and joy to you both,
René

We started off in downtown Marquette…

And then made our way to really funky dock…

And I got this AMAZING shot of Aimee which is BY FAR one of my favorite images ever! Aimee, you are a BABE.  Babe. That’s all.

Aimee really loves when I capture reflections…

And when I shoot through stuff. ;-)

From the dock we chased the light a little more and ended up at THE most beautiful place ever (as mentioned above).

Just you wait; this is about to rock your world.

This.  This sunset.  This sky.  This water.  This is one of the most beautiful sights I’ve witnessed in my adult life.
These next two images are some of my favorite I’ve ever taken.

Part of what took my breath away about Lake Superior was the way the sky and water blended together perfectly.  Seamlessly.
