A round of Starbucks drinks, a chocolate chip banana coffee bread to share, and lots of wedding talk. When I (Jesie) met with Stephanie and Phill to plan their big day, I was excited to hear what they were each looking forward to most. What photos meant the most to them. When Phill piped up with a thoughtful answer, Stephanie and I hushed quickly to hear what he had to say.
“I’m most excited about Stephanie’s getting ready photos.”
Huh? Stephanie and I crinkled our eyebrows in confused interest, looked at each other, and then back at Phill for further explanation.
“Well,” he said, “she’s been dreaming about this day since she was a little girl. She’s getting ready for the biggest day of her life… and I’m not going to be there to see it.”
Instant tears welled up in Stephanie’s eyes and I swallowed the choked-up feeling in my throat.
That’s the way they love each other.
Stephanie & Phill, thank you so much for including me on the most memorable day of your life. Here’s to many mornings getting ready… together.
