After a couple of weeks on the road and living out of a suitcase, I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be home. To sleep in my own bed. To drink out of my own coffee mugs. To use my own shower. It’s the little things in life.
Today, I sat down at my kitchen table with the paper, the grocery ads, and a cup of coffee. I opened all the windows, let the cool morning air drift by me, and thoroughly enjoyed my morning. My morning of complete and utter normalcy. Who thought reading the paper with a cup of coffee could feel so good. When you lead a busy and zany schedule, lacking routine, it’s the little, simple things in our lives that make us feel normal again.
So tell me, what do you do when you want to feel normal again?

Normalcy for me is staying home, catching up on chores and other to-do’s, cooking, going to bed at a decent hour, etc. I LOVE normalcy :)
Cleaning the house, doing laundry and grocery shopping. Does that make me weird?
Mmmm. I go home. At home at my parents’ ranch is where I feel the most normal. When I start to forget what normal feels like, I go home. And, sometimes, normal is what you need most.
Making a meal at home. With our crazy schedules, it is usually easier to grab something quick, but it always feels so good to make a meal at home, and to have a relaxing evening with the boys.
Being the busy-body that I am, I find that I am rarely home long enough to do much (of course the obligatory sleep, laundry, take a shower, etc) but when I want to “feel” normal, I grab something to drink and plop down on my bedroom floor to accomplish something….sounds weird but when you’re rarely home very long, sometimes taking the time to sit down on my bedroom floor brings me back to a feeling of being “normal”!!
