You can tell they’re best friends.
It was in the way they held hands and ran and jumped towards the camera. The way they had their “bread and butter sides.” You can tell they are best friends when he casually said, “You know what my favorite part about the cold is? It’s how it makes your cheeks kind of rosy. I like that.” It was the way he broke the ice by swooping her up as if he was carrying her over a long threshold. You were blind if you didn’t see it in the way they danced with one another. The way she effortlessly fell into his arms. The way he dipped her single-handedly. And the simple way she trusted him.
But their love is deeper than just friendship. Their love is comfortable. It’s true. It’s solid. Anyone can see it. It’s evident in the way she looks up at him with her piercing brown eyes. The way he leans his forehead against hers to meet her gaze. The way she holds him with not just her arms, but with her whole body. Their love is easy, playful, and tender… just as love should be.
Introducing Joe and Alicia: teammates.
Alicia and Joe were engaged on September 12, 2009 as a result of being teammates. They participated in the Denver Diamond Dash. A scavenger hunt around urban Denver in a quest for a $15K Hearts of Fire diamond ring. Refusing to maintain the status quo of running and bicycling, Alicia and Joe are the first and only couple to ever complete the dash on ROLLER BLADES. Yeah, I told you I have the coolest brides and grooms. Check out their story and watch videos of them winning at DenverDiamondDash.com.
Oh did I mention, we did their engagement shoot in 28 degree weather? What can I say? They’re cool. ;) Pun absolutely intended. The sky and snow was too incredible to reschedule. We shot around their home in Aurora, Colorado at a local RTD Light Rail train station. Pretty much the sweetest thing ever.
I LOVE these!
Alicia, you are so stunning!
Ahhh! This makes me so warm and fuzzy inside. I love this shot!
“She’s got Betty Davis eyes…”
These make me smile.
Check out this look!
Pretty much the coolest look ever.
Nothin’ like hangin’ out in an overpass. :)
So the RTD has this nifty little drop-off zone called the Kiss n Ride. I thought it was pretty cute. :)

Oh thank you so much Rene! I love it! Thanks again for putting up with us in the freezing cold.. You are so incredibly talented and cannot wait for the wedding!
This very easily could be my favorite engagement session yet… there is something about every image, your angle, their look, the composition, the color that just makes every image worthy of a stop…pause… and enjoy. I cannot wait to get married, mainly because I want you to be my photographer!
Oh, and I forgot to mention…now that I’ve taken my second pass through the photos…the one with them at the end of the overpass, when they’re kissing and their reflection is in the first few windows…especially the left side with her leg kick… seriously… just became my favorite RTP picture (next to my favorite umbrella image). Such an appreciation for your work my friend!
This shoot is fabulous & looks quite familiar, but all covered in snow! Ha ha. I absolutely LOVE the snow shots! They’re so much fun & cozy! Another great shoot, girl!
