I told you the best is yet to come… Take a scroll through these. The sky was threatening us nearly all day and the trees were moving like I’d never seen before. Despite the harsh weather, this fearless wedding party trusted me as I led them to a wide-open, weedy field, off the side of a country road, next to a power plant. I’m so glad they had faith in me… These images turned out to be some of my all time favorite wedding party/bride/groom portraits.

The colors are so vibrant!

Lindsay’s bridal portraits. She is s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g.

Shizzam!

Love these girls.

Favorite part of the whole day. Jesie and I didn’t have an ounce of makeup left on when we finished this prayer time. What an incredible way to start Wes and Lindsay’s marriage.

So Jesie has this INCREDIBLE knack for capturing close-ups of hands. I love it. She comes up with some of THE most powerful images. This winter I plan on doing a post of all her breathtaking hand images. They all tell a story.. it’s amazing.

On their engagement post, I shared with you that they vowed to not kiss until their wedding day.. Look at their sweet faces immediately following the kiss. I love watching the pastor’s face through the service; I think he or she is often overlooked, but often times have some of the best expressions. Love his look on the left.

The cover of their album. (Images of that coming soon.)

One of their very first kisses as man and wife. :)

For some reason, I can’t help but pair the phrase “And they lived happily ever after” with this image:

Normally I start my posts with my favorite image, but today, I am ending with my favorite image. This is not just my favorite Lindsay and Wes image, but probably one of my top three faves of 2009. I’m in awe of Lindsay’s pure, carefree, youthful expression. But what makes this image even better is the technical, camera geek type stuff: the in-focus, beaded detail on that five foot long veil. And the compositional balance; the two main focus points (her head and veil detail) are in opposite corners from one another, both abiding by the rule of thirds. And the fact that the wind was blowing about 600 mph and whipping that veil almost out of her hair makes it a wonder that this image was ever successful. Sometimes I get lucky… and it all starts with a vision. :)
