Alaska Cruises, Hot Air Ballooning, and More
Why hello there blog world! Long time no see! Have you lost weight? Maybe it’s your hair. Something looks different about you. It’s just been so long since I’ve seen you.
Today is September 9th and it’s been about since August 9th since I’ve really spent much dedicated time blogging and sharing all the pretty images we’ve been shooting! I thought it was about time I made an appearance and let y’all know what I’ve been up to in the last month!
As many of you know, I split my time between Colorado and the San Francisco Bay area where my husband is getting his masters at Stanford University. The majority of this summer was spent in Colorado shooting weekend after weekend and all the days in between. I think somewhere around 8 weeks I shot 12 weddings and 25 other non-wedding shoots!
Needless to say, August called for some time off to reenergize before the fall wedding season kicked in!
After John’s 30th surprise birthday party, we continued August with a Wisconsin wedding of some dear friends: Darryl & Emily. So many of our pals were there! And how fun and rejuvenating to be a guest for once!
With a late Sunday return from the wedding, I had just a enough time to switch bags and hop on a plane on Monday morning for a week of shoots in Los Angeles! We kicked off the day with three days in Disneyland with Kristi & Scott – an RTP couple from 4 years ago celebrating their anniversary in the most magical place on earth.
That week continued with so much golden light every night (and morning!).
I’m not sure why we do this to ourselves, but after over a week away, I returned from L.A. (John was on another trip of his own while I was gone) and we had just one night in our house and took off for Vancouver the next day to kick off our vacation!
We started with a super fun Alaskan gorgeous and saw so much scenery you could never see otherwise. My favorite part was definitely the inside passage, up Glacier Bay National Park!
One of our favorite parts was the scenic train ride up on the White Pass Yukon Railway!

We ended our Alaska vacation with some awesome halibut & salmon fishing, followed by a visit to my old house and elementary school in Palmer, Alaska! What a walk down memory lane after 17 years away from the Last Frontier!
After an overnight flight and an 8am arrival to California, we switched out our suitcases and were on the road by NOON driving back to Colorado. John to do some Air Force Reserve time and me to shoot Hannah & Jarret’s wedding, plus pack up some of our Colorado home to bring to our new Stanford home!
After a week in CO shooting, I finally arrived back to California to move us into our Stanford home while John drove back from CO. It’s fun maintaining two residences but it takes a lot of organization!
And that brings us through Labor Day weekend and to today where John surprised me with a hot air balloon ride over wine country!!
And of course, amidst all these CRAZY adventures, have been a few shoots here and there, some editing from the road, and a few drinks with good friends in between! Here’s to a slightly slower September and a really slow October to just settle in and bring you lots and lots of pretty images of some of the best couples out there!
