#RTPSaysIDo: Our Wedding Photographers

Without a doubt, the number one question I get asked in LIFE is, “So who’s going to photography your wedding?!”

I suppose the cat’s out of the bag now that our engagement pictures went live this week because typically whomever does your engagement pictures does your wedding photography too.

So with that said, the question all of you out there have pondered, John and I are so proud to announce OUR wedding photographers: the wildly successful, Connecticut-based, husband and wife team….

Justin & Mary!

How did we choose, you ask? In no particular order, 10 reasons why we chose Justin & Mary to document our wedding.

1. They Have a Why: I’ve known them longer than I’ve known John.  I’ll never forget the time I was first introduced to them and heard them speak at Pictage’s Partner Con in L.A. over five years ago.  I was only a year or two into my business.  After their inspiring message on “Why” I remember running up to my hotel room crying, so inspired about their great reminder of why I do what I do and so excited about the potential in my career that lay ahead.  What I love about J&M is their Why carries them through every image they shoot and every decision they make.  You can read more about their Why here.

2. Two to Tango: I love the thought of sending Justin to hang out with John.  He knows grooms and Mary knows brides.  They’ve done this (the getting married thing) before.  I could go on and on about the perks of two photographers, but having a male/female means a lot to me and John.

3. Above & Beyond: Their aim isn’t to be a vendor.  To simply show up, take the pictures, and deliver.  Done.  No, Justin & Mary’s aim has always been to provide a really terrific client experience.  From the client meetings (Where clients can play Justin in Mario Kart of a potential discount) to our super cozy Christmas gift they sent us: a Restoration Hardware blanket (in their teal blue of course) to date night gifts and wedding presents.  I’ve followed them for years, so I’ve read lots about this on their web site.  I just know they’ll take care of us and they’ll look out for us on the wedding day.

4. 100% Confidence: These two are leaders in the wedding photography industry.  I mean they speak all over the world to hundreds of people.  They’re kind of a big deal… So of course that builds confidence in their clients.  But also, I’ve followed their blog for so long and I’ve seen them shoot in every type of lighting scenario, crunched timelines, and amidst challenging logistics.  All their images are flawlessly executed.  I trust them.

5. Class: Perhaps what I love most about the ART of their work: no matter if the couple is wealthy and having a high-end wedding, or the couple is on a low budget and scraped together every possible cent to afford them, Justin & Mary ALWAYS make their brides and grooms (perhaps through their fabulous posing, attention to detail, clean backgrounds, and dimension lighting) look like they are the classiest beings to walk the planet.

6. Timelessness: Similar to #5 every single one of their images is TIMELESS.  They look like something from Jackie O & JFK’s wedding album.

7. Vanity Fair:  A fairly recent addition to the J&M wedding day workflow is the addition of grey backdrop, professionally lit portraits with a Vanity Fair flair.  They’re timeless, elegant, and most important to me: very different from anything I ever shoot.  I look forward to the tangible artifacts their portraits will be for generations to come.

8. Personality:  Read their blog for a couple of weeks.  You’ll thank me.  Mary’s a brilliant writer; just excellent at putting emotions into words.  Some of her analogies and word pictures are so. funny.

9. Tech Geeks:  It feels so good to know that Justin lives and breaths photography.  They both know all of their gear inside and out and that puts me at ease.

10. Faith: We love the same the Lord.  And that makes me feel really good too.  They have a personal appreciation for the way we are honoring Christ throughout our wedding day.  <3

So that’s that.  These two are just a really amazing team who, in my opinion, embody everything that a wedding photographer ought to embody.  We have full faith and confidence in them to capture and showcase our wedding in the way we think it deserves and the way we want it to be preserved and remembered.

Speaking of those engagement photos that went live this week, here are a few favorites.  They came all the way from Connecticut to photograph us and we couldn’t be more humbled or thankful for these two sweethearts!  To view the rest of our images on Justin & Mary’s blog, click here.
