Cañon City: Andrea + Alex

The sun was bright.  Coordinators and ushers buzzed around them.  A slight breeze pushed the fresh, morning air through the back door of the church.  One by one each bridesmaid stepped out towards the crowd.  When it was finally their turn, she took a deep breath and put her arm through his.  Her father led her down the aisle, one step at a time, tears brimming the edges of his eye lids.  When they reached the alter, the pastor gave his usual remarks.  “Her mother and I,”  he responded.  And just before the handoff was made, there it was: she leaned her head back, face towards the heavens, as if she was thanking the Lord for him… for her father.  The man who’s lead her this far.

The sun was bright.  Friends and family surrounded them. A slight breeze danced her veil around him.  When it was finally their turn to say “I do,” the pastor prayed over them.  Tears brimming the edge of her eye lids.  Turning to face the crown, the pastor made his usual remarks, announcing them husband and wife.  As the music came alive, time seemed to stop for a just a minute as he breathed in the fresh morning air, taking a mental picture of his new wife’s grin looking up at him.  Focused on their life ahead, he took a deep breath, and put her arm through his and together they danced down the aisle.  And in a moment, with a smile as big as Texas itself on her face, she leaned her head back, face towards the heavens, and thanked the Lord him… for her husband.  The man who’ll continue to lead her.

Married: Andrea + Alex

June 1st brought our first wedding of the summer.  Andrea and Alex were married at ten-thirty in the morning in the church where they’d met in her hometown of Cañon City.  It was a truly beautiful ceremony filled with worship and wise words.  Andrea and Alex, thank you for brining me along on your journey.  Alex, the way you wrap your arm around her and bury your face in her air says so much about how you cherish her.  Never stop.

So much love and joy to you both.  Can’t wait to see you oh-so very soon!

With love,
René

P.S. Special thanks goes out to Amanda Lamb for helping me document these two.  Her talent for photography and working with people (and being so fashionable in doing so) is such a gift.  I was so honored to work with her!
