Manitou Springs: Stephanie & Phill

28.09.11 engagements

Hey there, Jesie here!

Happy Wednesday! I’m excited to be posting on the blog this week! As René announced earlier in the year, I’m starting to book my own weddings in 2012.  As a bit of a warm up, I have my first two solo weddings this year.  First René’s brother and now, this weekend, one of René’s best friends, Stephanie and her fiancé Phill!

I had so much fun working with these two.  You guys are really special to me, you know?  One of the things I love about you, Stephanie, is how you look at Phill.  How he makes you kind of giddy and girly.  How you trust him.  And how you smile at him.  Phill, keep loving this girl the way you do.  Please don’t ever stop being playful!  It’s one of the sweetest parts about you two.   I can tell you two are truly best friends. :-)

I can’t wait for your wedding this weekend.  Thank you for letting me be a part of it!  It’s going to a perfect day!

Blessed,
Jesie

To My Jesie

28.09.11 personal

Okay, so I’m not going to lie… being Jesie’s best friend and her boss is not easy to juggle.

Think about it.

Sometimes we spend so much time together working that we forget to just go out and do girl stuff.  You know, stuff best friends do.  Go to wine bars, paint our nails together, go shopping, meet at Starbucks to just talk…

Instead, we drive up to Estes Park together on Friday night cause we have to wake up super early the next morning for a wedding.  Then we drive home at midnight jamming to some Kid Rock and Chris Tomlin (oh yeah), part ways, and do it all over again the next day.  But don’t forget all the text messages and phone calls we trade throughout the week about work stuff leading up to the weekend of weddings.  Mix in a few nights a week of working side-by-side editing photos, listening to the latest iTunes downloads, and  cuddling with Cal.  And yes, that’s Jesie who cuddles with him while she works, not me. :-) Lather, rinse, repeat.  That us.

Sometimes I drop the ball being a best friend.  Sometimes I expect too much out of her at work that I forget we’re friends first.

But sometimes, I rock at being a best friend and I’m not a good boss.  And this is one of those cases….

You see, Jesie celebrated her Golden Birthday on Monday, the 26th.  I didn’t forget about it.  In fact, I didn’t even need an iCal reminder. No, cause this is one of those times when I was all best friend through and through.  No, I picked her up and swept her away to lunch at her favorite restaurant, she opened a couple of cards… one from Calvin and a handmade one from me – cause Jesie likes that kind of thing. :-)  And then I gave her a gift that I’d been thinking about for a long time.  We’ll continue our celebration on Monday night at the Two Friends Tour with Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith – concert tickets that Jes gave ME for my birthday… but they’re part hers too, cause it IS the Two Friends Tour. :-)

Like I said, I was a good friend on Monday, September 26th.  But I was a horrible boss.  I didn’t even mention anything on the blog about her birthday!! Ikea… I feel terrible.  Cause I know y’all love her just as much as I do, it’s unfair to not give you a chance to share your love and birthday wishes with her. :-)

So this post is dedicated to my soul sister, Jesie.  My partner in crime.  My sister-in-Christ.  My sentence finisher.  My wine buddy.  My teach me how to curl my eye lashes friend.  My surprise me with an Orange Crush when she comes to work friend.

I love you, Jesie McElroy.  Happy Birthday Week!!

Love,
Tater

Red Rocks Wedding: Virginia & Josh – Pt I

27.09.11 weddings

Good evening!  And boy do we have a special treat for you: not only is this our first September wedding, but it’s also of dear, dear friends of mine: Virginia and Josh.

These two were married on the morning of September 5th – Labor Day at Red Rocks Open Space in Colorado Springs.  Their day was filled with so many authentic relationships every way you turned, gorgeous details, and amazing dancing. :-)

Virginia and Josh, Jesie and I are so blessed by you.  We can’t thank you enough for having us there.  Virginia, I look forward to many more years of friendship.  You and Josh, as a couple, are one of a kind!  I adore you.

So much love and joy to you,
René

Love this letter from Virginia’s namesake: her grandmother.

Virginia spent quite a bit of time in Hawaii, so Reef flip flops were a must. :-)

Meanwhile, Jesie was rockin’ it with the guys.  Love this image she got of Josh’s cologne.  Notice how the texture of the bottle matches the back of the chair. :-)

Stay tuned for their blast of a reception at The Warehouse.

funny seeing an old classmate as a groom on your blog! I didn’t even know Josh and he asked to look at my ring during a class when he was ring shopping. Fantastic job, René and Jesie! Love the warm fall feeling of all these.
