personal
Last week was the first week since May that we didn’t have a wedding.
The first time this summer that we didn’t look forward to a weekend of wedding cake and the Black Eyed Peas telling us that tonight’s gonna be a good, good night.
No, in fact, we were looking forward to two full days OFF – in a row! Naturally, I booked tickets to see the boy at his new Air Force base in New Mexico. It’d been a month since I’d seen him. I was looking forward to it. No, wait. Scratch that. Not just looking forward to it. Craving it. Yearning for it. Imagining over and over how I’d tackle him in the airport.
But most of the time, when things are too good to be true, they usually are.
John got a last minute call that they needed him in Colorado for training, thus canceling my trip. I, on the other hand, got a last minute call that I was about to be sicker than a dog.
Real sick. The kind of sick that hits you hard and fast out of nowhere — like that police car in your rearview mirror that appeared out of nowhere. The kind of sick that actually made me take a sick day and cancel meetings. Gut wrenching pains, headaches, nausea, sore throat, and 72 hours of you don’t wanna what….
All during the one week I didn’t have a wedding.
What’s a single girl to do? Go home to mamma.
You see, I’m the youngest of five kids. My mom calls me her baby. I used to get annoyed with it when I was a fussy teenager. ”Baby?! I am NOT a baby anymore.”
Truth be told, I am. A big one. And I’m okay with admitting it.
Because you see, I’m not married, so I can justify I spending two solid days on my mom and dad’s couch. I’m the baby. And I’m okay being babied. There’s no better way to be sick than to be with your mom.
She. Took. Care. Of . Me.
Two movies, lots of water and tea, and 5 episodes of I Love Lucy later, I was on the up and up. Just between you and me, I think I had West Nile. After all, I’d been shooting the last three days in a row in mosquito infested areas.
But I digress.
No matter how old I get, I’ll always be the baby of the family. Mom, I’ll always be your baby. Thank you for taking care of me this weekend. I don’t know how I’d live without you – literally and figuratively. ;-) I love you.

AKA: Jesie’s baby sister and brother-in-law. :-)
Happy Friday, friends. We’re back in the office after a couple of days of time off and time to recharge. I can’t think of a better way to come back than to share a sneak peek of this gorgeous, gorgeous, country wedding. Definitely one of the most beautiful and challenging weddings I’ve ever shot. You’ll see why.
Enjoy!
So hate that I miss this exciting and beautiful event. Sending blessings to the newly married couple. Can’t wait to see more photos from Rene’Tate Photography!

This was quite literally one of the BEST days of my life. I really don’t think I’ve ever had that MUCH fun! We were so free dancing in that rain! Thank you for capturing it, René. You are the BEST.
I’ve never seen just an “okay” picture that was shot from you…all of them are perfect!! The sunflower picture needs its own wall in a house!
OH My Goodness Rene! Those are sooo amazing,I can’t wait to see the rest; I can only imagine. Thank you for sticking out the rain and celebrating this day with Nick and I! Yay!!
Oh boy. And what a pretty dress! Can’t wait for the rest!

Good afternoon! I hope your Monday is going well! We’re excited to show you the rest of Baylee and Jordan’s wedding day story. These two are so awesome… My jaw hit the floor when I saw Baylee all dressed up. She is absolutely radiant and wait until you see her glow on the dance floor with Jordan. :-)
J&B, I adore you two. Absolutely adore. We had so much at your wedding. Thank you for taking such great care of us and trusting us!
With love and joy,
René + Jesie
The ceremony and reception was held at Denver’s Mile High Station. And the lanterns were all Jordan and Baylee. Love them!
Okay, so call me crazy, but this could be my favorite non-Baylee & Jordan image from the day. Just a little prep for the ceremony. That light hit her perfectly! This is my definition of photojournalism.

So Jordan is the son of a preacher man… It was the perfect song to accompany Baylee down the aisle.

Love these moments of B and her dad!

Yes, yes, yes. Love these girls! And their hair!

Speaking of a son of a preacher man, Jordan’s father officiated.

Aaaand this is why I carry my phone at all times. ;-)

Ugh, Baylee, you are a KNOCK OUT!

Yes, Jesie and I have like the exact same hair. Minus the color. I promise we didn’t plan this!

I am in love with EVERY part of this wedding! Including the matching photogs! ;)
These, by far, are the most amazing moments captured in photos. Absoultly stunning ! I’m so happy for you two! Gorgeous!
I still cant believe this is MY WEDDING!!!!! :)
ABSOLUTELY ONE OF MY FAV WEDDINGS YOU HAVE EVER PHOTOGRAPHED. SO BEAUTIFUL
WOW! What a beautiful display of two people starting their lives together. Everything looks so amazing and I couldn’t be happier for you! I love your dress so much!
um…LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
A very cool wedding indeed. Beautiful photos. Gorgeous couple.
possibly one of the coolest weddings I’ve seen!
One of the coolest locations! Love the shot of Baylee’s reflection in the rear view mirror. Well done, as always, Ladies :)
Beautiful!
Would I be lame if I said I cried a little looking at these? …. yeah, I’m cool like that. absolutely fantastic.
Oh my gosh, these are great! Again, I love the black and white. I’ve been to Mile High Station a few times for work functions, and I’ve always thought it’d be awesome for a wedding. Looks like these two found the perfect location! LOVE these!

Good morning! And happy Monday! Jesie and I made it home last night from Charlottesville, Virginia by the skin of our teeth due to some crazy delays all over the East Coast. Here’s a sneak peak off some of the goodness that is Linda and Mike. It was a gorgeous, gorgeous wedding day and we can’t wait to show you more!
Stunning work! You have the ability to capture the heart of your subjects and to project the story of their special day with such clarity, simplicity and love.
I heart sneak peaks! ♥
Wow. She’s stunning!
Can’t believe you already have some of the pics from Linda and Mike’s wedding up on your website! You are right. It was a lovely wedding! Hope you had a great flight back to Colorado. Blessings.
Sneak peak alone looks wonderful!!!!! What a magical day!! Linda, as always, GEORGOUS!
Awww Joyce looks great! I love these photos!
Wow! Love this! It is perfectly fine to be a mommas girl too. My little girl is a Daddys Girl by far but I know that when she is sick she will be a Mommys girl and I cant wait for that. One day you will know what it is like to be a mom and it is the best in the world and Ive only been one for 3 months :) Hope you feel better!
Sure wish I was at home being taken care of by Mamma Tate.
aww sorry you were sick but glad you have an awesome Mom!
Rene’…your photography is stunning! I hadn’t checked it out in a while – but WOW! You’ve really grown & your vision is amazing. I loved seeing the pics that Jesie took at Kevin’s wedding. The one of the 5 Tate siblings is wonderful :) Hugs, Julie Y (Troy’s friend) P.S. Your mom looks great!
I love you too Mom! Thanks for always taking care of us. You are the ONE person in this world that I can ALWAYS count on! Love you to the moon and back.
Tears. in. my. eyes… So sorry you were so sick, but so glad you are on the mend. And, mostly, I’m grateful you have a mama who loves you!
beautiful portrait Miss RT. beautiful words. Glad you are on the up and up! Now, get back to work! ;)
