Hey there!  And Happy Wednesday!  You know I’m fan of celebrating the military holidays on this blog, right?  With Memorial Day weekend just around the corner, I thought it was an appropriate time to share with you a little bit about an organization I recently joined that supports our nation’s military service members.  Our nation’s heroes.

A small organization called Yellow Ribbon Photographers.  All members agree to donate one 1-hour long photo session and some prints to service members about to deploy.  After having gone through a few deployments myself with my Sweet, I know firsthand the power of photographs.  When I feel like the sky is falling and I’m the loneliest girl on the planet, I just look at the candid moment’s Jesie has grabbed of me and John and I’m instantly uplifted.

It’s a bit risky putting this out there in one of the largest military communities around, but I’m willing to take on as many sessions as I possibly can.  If you know anyone about to deploy, please have him or her contact me so I can capture the love shared between his family.

And because posts are better with pictures…

In a time when we are so engaged in war to protect all that our flag stands for, I tend to think of the phrase “love and war” when I see this image.

Kami & Chris’ Maternity Experience – 3 Mo

Boy, do we have another sweet maternity session for you weekend-viewers!  Kami and Chris’ baby girl, Noelle, has been so much fun to watch grow.  We photographed her when she was in her mamma’s belly, then at 2 weeks, then at 3 months.  I can’t wait to see her again at the 6 month mark, if not before! We tried doing some posey, table-stop stuff with her, but Noelle just wouldn’t have it.  I think she had a feeling the best images would come outside, just hanging with her mom and dad. :-)

Denver Engagement: Diana & Jim

It is engagement season over here!  Well, not here at my house, but you know what I mean… Lots of engagement photo experiences are goin’ down.  :-) Last week I had the chance to shoot in Fort Collins in some of the most beautiful country in Colorado, the next day I got to go hiking and photograph Diana and Jim in a totally different, yet gorgeous part of Colorado, and next weekend I’m shooting an engagement session with hot air balloons.  Mmm hmm.  I have the coolest brides and grooms. :-)  It’s been a really great month – hard to believe June is almost here and then it’s weddings galore! Holla!

So, Diana and Jim.  Are. The. Sweetest.  There is just something about a woman who is being pursued.  She lights up the room.  It’s in her eyes, in her smile, in her body language.  That’s Diana.  She’s a completely different person when Jim’s around.  He is so good at putting her at ease, making her giggle nonstop, and just loving on her.  And you can just tell she respects him so much.  That’s what it’s all about.  I love these guys.  Their sweetness leaves you longing for more sweetness in your own life and relationships.

Diana, you are a really beautiful soul.  You shine.  Jim, I can see your strength and how much love Diana.  It’s beautiful.  You shine.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day. It is an honor. Seriously.

Oh man, this is one of my favorites!  Sometimes the best photos aren’t about what you see, but what you don’t see.

This time of year makes me happy. :-)

Yes, there isn’t a darn thing in focus. But I’m okay with that. It’s my blog and I think it’s a beautiful photo regardless. Plus my boss likes it!  ;-)

Colo. Springs Engagement: Alyssa & Kevin

Good morning!  And happy Thursday!  Holla!  The weekend is almost here and I can hardly wait!  Today is kind of a special day. :-) Not only are we so excited to show you more pictures of my crazy brother and his sweet fiancée, but this is Jesie’s inaugural post!  She’ll eventually have her own blog, but for now you can see some of her work here. :-) So with that… enjoy Jesie’s images!

Do you know the sure sign that your bride and groom are the coolest?  Well, a really cool bride and groom bring you an engagement shoot surprise!  Wanna see my surprise? …

Uh-huh!  They brought me Pixie!  Someone must have dropped them a note that I’m a dog girl, and there’s only one thing better than a dog.  A puppy!  She was so cute… almost as cute as Alyssa & Kevin.  You probably recognize these two.  Kevin is René’s sweet brother.  He means the world to her and when they asked me to shoot their wedding, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

Let me tell you about Alyssa and Kevin.  These guys have a sense of humor as high as the sky.  I think we did more laughing during this shoot than actual shooting.  But with them, you just can’t help it.  But every once in a while, just when they thought I wasn’t paying attention, I’d catch a quick glimpse of how romantic he can be with her.  The way he would wrap his arms all the way around her as tight as he could.  Or the way she would swing her arms around the back of his neck to kiss him.  You watch them and see that their love, their companionship, is so natural.  They’ll be together forever.  And forever definitely won’t be a boring one.

Kevin, this shot is so model-esque!  Whew!

These two were my favorite shots of the whole day!  I should sell the one on the left to Hallmark :)
