So Big

20.12.10 songs for the soul

I can’t think of a better way to start your week than with this new, crazy song I just discovered.  I’m not even gonna say how many times I’ve listened to it in the last 24 hours.  Okay.  24.  That’s how many times.  About once an hour.

Now I’m a pretty mild music listener… My top most played in iTunes include LeAnn Rimes, Eastmountiansouth, Brooke Fraser, Owl City… rarely do you come across RAP in my repertoire, but this song, this song could be played at my wedding.  I heart it.  Big Time.  So big time if you will.   After 7 hours of sitting in this office, Michael and I just played it and sort of had a dance party.  Okay, it was definitely just me dancin’.  I don’t know know how he puts up with me.  I digress.  All I can say is we’re ready for another 7 hours. hah Not really, but my boy Iyaz will get you going!

Enjoy!  And turn up your speakers and wait for the chorus.  It’s so much fun!  Good, clean, fun too!

Sometimes, when I’m missing my friend really bad, I check the blog just to feel like I talked to her that day. I downloaded this song to my iTunes because 1) it ROCKS and 2) it reminds me of you when it randomly comes over my speakers. My homegirl’s favorite part is when the music picks up :)

I love this song! What I love even more is that the girl in the music video is on one of my favorite T.V. shows!

Larkspur Wedding: Anne & Matt

17.12.10 weddings

It’s that time of year when weddings and engagements are slowing down and the peppermint americanos, gift wrapping, order fulfillment, and Christmas-card-envelope-licking picks up.  (Definitely have a tummy ache on this end.)  I believe it was Justin and Mary Marantz who said their office looked like a scene from Elf.  I think that’s the case for most photographers this time of year.  We’re wrapping up a fantastic 2010 wedding season and gearing up for next year by revamping a few things on the business side.  We still have a couple more weddings to blog and will continue do so in between all this Christmas carding we’re doing and album wrapping. :-) So without further ado, Anne and Matt’s gorgeous (yet also Bronco-themed!) wedding at Perry Park Country Club in Larkspur, Colorado.

Anne had the best taste when she picked out this wedding gown:

And selecting a venue!

Love this shot that Jes caught of some sweet bobby-pinning action.

The lovely Anne and her sweet mother:

Anne and Matt are sports fans to say the least. :-)

Enter Bronco colored flowers.

Meanwhile the boys were killing time.  After all, they were at a golf course.

Matt’s sister:

Okay Anne, you are so sweet and cute, but also VOGUE!

I adore this shot on the left.

Go time!

After dodging in and out of rain and a more than thrilling golf cart ride (driven by Miss Jesie) where I saw my life flash before my eyes, we headed to the reception:

Great shot by Jes:

There were a lot of high fives. :-)

And a lot of laughs and tears, especially with Anne and her father.

Matt & Grandma

The end!

You just had to bring up the golf cart incident! Ha ha. I don’t know if it’s just that, around this time of year, I really start missing wedding season, but this post is awesome! Anne and Matt’s personality are written all over it! Ugh, I LOVE the sewing pin shot with Matt’s tag. So good!

Colorado Springs: Lauren & Justin

15.12.10 engagements

If you think these faces look familiar, you’re right.  Lauren, Justin, and I shot their first set of engagement pictures in Seattle, Washington in October.  Both of them have family in Colorado, so over Thanksgiving we met up for round two, Colorado-style! We started at Shove Chapel on the Colorado College campus – the very chapel where her parents were married.  From there we headed to Garden of the Gods to get something completely different from Seattle’s ocean.  You’re going to see a lot more film grain and vintage effects (and image sizes!) on these as the shoot progresses.  We wanted to give these images a completely different look and feel compared to their Seattle images, which you can view here.

After a hard morning, I went into this shoot feeling a certain kind of calm and security that only comes from Above.  That serenity definitely laced the shoot and is evident in the Shove Chapel images.

I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed shooting and editing them. :-)

With love,
René

The Office

15.12.10 personal, the latest & greatest

Many of you know I just moved into a new house just about a month ago on the dot.  And since Halloween I’ve been on about seventeen airplanes which hasn’t left much time to organize, shoot, edit, etc.  But this week has been super productive on the office redecorating front with the help of interior designer, Jessica Hartman. She is perfectly fabulous and has made not only our office, but my bedroom and living room peaceful and relaxing areas that I look forward to being in. Here are a few shots of the newly reshuffled/redecorated office where all the RTP magic happens. :-)

Cal is always around to lend a helping paw.
