Katy & Austin – Part III

19.02.10 weddings

I know it’s been a while since Part II of Katy and Austin’s Denver wedding.  Worry not, I did not forget, but just took a brief hiatus (aka vacation) that took me a way from the blog. We pick up just before the ceremony.  Austin sitting beside his mother, sharing a special moment, her hand on his leg.  “Mom, did I show you this yet?” He turned his left hand toward her, inducing a loud chuckle.  You see, cause that’s one of Katy’s favorite parts about Austin: his ability to make her laugh.  And after rehearsing the ceremony, Katie could never remember which hand and which finger to place Austin’s ring on.  Thus the arrow:

Katy and her father and stepfather walk her down the aisle.

It was such a sweet moment! I think all three of them were near tears.

Katy’s sister:

Right as she saw the arrow:

Immediately after the ceremony, I followed K&A and got this good moment:

And THIS great moment!

And THIS amazing moment!

Then we headed over to the Denver University Club downtown where we hung out during cocktail hour.

And speaking of the University Club… they are the bomb dot com.  It didn’t even phase them when I asked if Katy could SIT on their Steinway & Sons  piano!

The end!  Katy and Austin, you two are amazing people.  Just amazing.  Jesie and I love having you has friends and double-daters!  We’re lifers!

Bink and Budge

10.02.10 personal

That’s what they call us. Why? I don’t know. My dad just says, “You just looked like a little Bink and he looked like a little Budge!”

Bink and Budge.

That’s my nickname. And my brother Kevin’s nickname. But I just knew him as Teh-Teh. See, cause “Kevin” was too difficult for my tiny, toddler mouth to pronounce. Thus, Teh-Teh tumbled out.

In a family of five children, all grossly spread out (my eldest is 21 years older than I), Kevin was my closest. Only four years between us. I could always count on him for excellent Ace Ventura impressions. He is the funniest person I know. I didn’t like him at times – especially in that back seat during road trips or after being tackled only to be left with a wedgie. But, I guess the beauty of time is that it ages you. It matures you. It makes you appreciate all those childish moments when life was simple. And it makes you thankful for all the new adventures you have yet to experience together.

I love you, Kevin.  Thanks for the surprise visit yesterday.  And for letting me take your picture. ;-)

And yes, ladies, he’s single.  And a total catch.

The Unthinkable

09.02.10 portraits

The temperature was only in the 20′s.  Snow flurries circled her and danced on her eyelashes.  Trying to keep up with the pace of the snow, her teeth chattered just as quickly.  Her body shook.  And then… then she did the unthinkable… Peeling her off her sweater, she felt the rush of the brisk air hit her soft, tan skin.  Looking up through her blond locks she rolled down her cozy sweatpants, dropping them to the ground and whispered, “The things you do for love.”  Piece by piece she unveiled herself amidst the characteristic red rock backdrop of Colorado Springs.

Because when you’re in love… you do the unthinkable.

When you’re in love, you spend 7,000 miles away from your wife and children for months and months on end to provide for them.  You wake up every day to 100+ degree weather and are greeted by the hottest wind you’ve ever felt hitting your face.  Every day is more of the same: more work and not a soul around who truly knows you.  Because when you’re in love… when you’re deployed….

You do the unthinkable.  For love.

While on leave from Iraq, TJ and her husband, Bill, are about to celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary and renewal of their vows in the Maldive Islands.  After rescheduling this shoot three times, we finally got the snow we wished for.  TJ and I met in Garden of the Gods yesterday for a chilling boudoir shoot.  TJ will present the finished prints to her husband while enjoying slightly warmer temperatures than those that follow…

Absolutely breathtaking, TJ.  YOU are breathtaking.

We started our shoot off right.  I brought TJ a mug of her favorite vanilla latté and of course, I had my standard peppermint Americano.  And check out the cute new Starbucks Valentine’s Day cups!

Thanks to my good friend, Melissa (also a past boudoir client), who stepped up to the plate and assisted!

My trusty UGGs… :-) It should be illegal to wear boots that comfortable.

TJ these are gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the others when you get them. Out of theses I love 1 and 2, I wish though that in #1 you didn’t see the pink bra strap. Can you photo shop that out? I also like the one with the pink sweater (can’t wait to see more of that style).

Rene, you are by far the best photographer that I know! Thank you so much for doing this for both my husband and I! I truly think he will love these pictures! I can’t wait to see the rest of them! And give them to him on our “honeymoon”.
