It’s a different kind of love.
One you don’t see every day. At least… one you don’t realize you’re seeing every day… in every store, around every corner, at every bus stop. It’s passionate — just a different kind of passion. It’s carefree and silly — just a different kind of carefree and silly. It’s tender, patient, candid, honest, innocent — just a different kind… It’s a kind of love that grabs your heart so quickly, almost knocking you to the ground. You can’t help but smile with everything you have when you see it. It warms your heart in a way nothing else can.
It’s a different kind of love… the love between a single parent and her children.
Today I had the incredible honor to photograph eleven families. But not just any old eleven families. Today, I photographed eleven single parent families. Single parents trying their hardest to get through college, leave a legacy, and give their children opportunities. Each parent is a T&R Fund Flying Solo scholarship recipient. Enjoy…
It’s the kind of love that really make this photographer stop in her tracks and say, “This is the best shoot ever.” The kind that makes this photographer over flow with joy and thankfulness. At this point in my life, I can’t imagine doing anything else… Thank you to all the Flying Solo families for showing me how to love a little more and a little better. You blessed me.

Gosh, what a treat! Now that I’m having the pleasure to be behind the camera, these pictures just make me cry, sob and smile with joy because I can picture you doing your thing behind your glass capturing these amazing photos and what an amazing job you did! That little boy is going to be a HEART BREAKER!! And, man… every single shot, on POINT Ms. Tate!
Yep… cried all the way through this post, Rene. I have a soft spot for single parents. My husband’s mom flew solo. She worked so hard just to make ends meet, but never compromised her time spent at work for time teaching her boys. Today, I’m married to a man who adores me and treats me like a lady, all because of the one-of-a-kind love of his mother. Thanks for your community service, Rene. This project was PRICELESS!
Yep, definitely teared up when looking at this post. These are all beautiful photos, and beautiful families.
Love the little one with his tongue out! Haha!
Love them Rene!
LOVE IT! Got a little misty-eyed. Great work, adorable kids, amazing scholarship program…
I love these pictures! You did an amazing job at capturing the kids’ personality!
René! Those photos are beautiful! This truly is one of your best,

A quick preview from yesterday’s wedding of Cherié and Jason at the Briarhurst. Hope this scene puts as big of a smile on your face as it did on mine.
Be carefree. :-)
It looks like a great time! Great photo!
Haha, nice. :) just a fly on the wall, eh?!? You catch priceless moments of pure joy!
engagements
Part II of Matt and Aubrey’s engagement experience picks up in the heart of Denver. You’ll notice a huge climactic shift in this post and the first post; I have never seen a storm move in so fast! I was shooting in short sleeves, the sun was shining, and the temperate was at least sixty. In the twenty minutes it took into downtown, the clouds quickly tumbled in and the snow and rain started coming. Poor little Aubrey from Atlanta had hardly seen snow before and was FREEZING, but desperately wanted snow in her shots, so we powered through! My kind of couple!

Yeah, it was an ice house to say the least….

Love love love these! Finally a good use of rush-hour: a portrait background!

Took a quick illegal trip on the Light Rail. :-)

So AFTER walking around Denver today generating ideas for Marshall’s shoot, I decided to come onto your blog for inspiration and funny enough, I recognize every street.
So far in Tattered Cover, inside Union Station, and in front of those signs that say “You Stud” etc (you’d have to know Marshall to know that’s ALL too appropriate!) were a few ideas and lo-and-behold voila, they are on Rene Tate’s blog!!! hahahaha
Thank you for your inspiration and belief despite my lack of talent and natural eye….we’ll have to see what Marshall and his friend decide to do and see how our ideas compare :)
could she be any more gorgeous? i love you aubrey.. can’t wait to meet matt and wear that bridesmaid dress!! ah. and i hope rene can be available in a few years for my wedding? love ya’ll.
Again, I love Aubrey’s shoes!!! But seriously Rene, I always dig the street shots you come out with. Particularly adore the “STUD” background shots. Super cute and creative!
Awesome shots!
The first one where they are kissing by the door is gorgeous, and oh so classic!
René– The colors in these are AWESOME. Especially the street shots with the double yellow lines. Spectacular.
this is probably my favorite of your photo shoots! I love how you used the traffic in Denver as a backdrop. AWESOME!
Awesome! :)
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!
I love, Love, LOVE it! Can’t wait to see the rest :)
