At RTP, we really try to establish a friendship with our clients. We want you to be SO comfortable around us on the day of your wedding that we’re just some friends with cameras, resulting in true, candid emotions. James and Alicia, are a good example of this case. They’re another set of clients-turned-friends who hosted an awesome Halloween party yesterday. JDD and I dressed up, switching careers for the night. It was perfect. hehe Here’s to a fun, spooky, and safe Halloween!

Coffee and Wine

A few months ago, I stumbled upon a song via Pandora called Twilight Serenade by Jason Myles Goss (never heard of the guy) and FELL. IN. LOVE. with it. It’s still only 99 cents on iTunes and worth every penny. It’s so chill and so beautiful. With that said, I found myself curious this evening as to what else this guy has to offer, and one song out of his 45 iTunes offerings caught my eye: Coffee and Wine. “Hmm… my two favorite things,” I thought, “I’m pretty sure I need this.” Downloaded it. Love at first listen. :) This is my kind of guy. There are few things that make René Tate instantly happy and two of them are coffee and wine. Both the darker the better. Is it just me, or is life a little bit better after the first sip of either one of these two concoctions? Couldn’t find much of an official video, but take a listen to this:
Just so happen to have these sweet photos in my archives of MY coffee and wine. Though, definitely need to add a disclaimer that I’m actually a RED girl, but hey, it’s all I had on the hard drive at the moment. Give me a break. ;)

The Love Family

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may remember me posting some photos from Tianna and Casey’s Puerto Rico wedding. The day after their wedding, we did a family session on the beach with their daughter Madyson. These gems have been in my archives for a while now and I thought was time to brush them off and give you a taste of summer in this snowy season. Plus, they’re the perfect introduction to Tianna and Casey’s most recent fall family shoot. Enjoy!
A couple of weeks ago, Tianna and Casey came down from the Denver area and we did these fun fall portraits around Colorado Springs. Mady was such an easy subject to photograph.
Is she not the Gerber baby in flesh?
I never have been one to have baby fever until I hung out with this kiddo.
I think I’d choose a candid family shot any day over a posey one. :)
What is it about Peek-a-Boo that makes a child laugh so doggone hard?! I don’t know about you, but these turn my frown upside down.

Kami & Chris

When I asked Kami and Chris about some of their expectations for their engagement experience they both looked at each other and with a giggle in their voices they simultaneously said, “We just want to make the blog!” haha Let me take this opportunity to introduce you to Miss Kami and her awesome fiancé Chris. Kami actually “makes the blog” every day. If you’ve ever read through the comments section on each post, you’ll see Kami’s name. Kami is so precious. She is a huge fan of photography (in fact, Chris proposed by taking a picture of her engagement ring and let her find it by scrolling through her images on her Nikon D60!). She’s been a constant support to me over the years. You should’ve seen the smile on my face when Kami called to see if her and Chris’ wedding date was available, informing me that she was engaged. This girl sees wedding and engagement pictures every day and is constantly commenting on her favorites, and like the rest of us girls, envisioning herself in them. You have no idea how thrilled I am to finally give Kami her own portraits to cherish.
We started the day in Kami’s hometown: Towner, Colorado — a teeny, tiny little place with a population of 40. It is located way out east just miles from the Kansas border. To begin, we shot in Kami’s home church which is about the size of my little home. :) It was important for her to get some shots in that church since she won’t be having her ceremony there on account of its size.
I was so infatuated with this little mirror. I took a million shots with it.

After the church, we ventured to this little, old, abandoned house that I just FELL IN LOVE with! Okay, so the inside shots aren’t the most beautiful, but wait until you see the exterior. 
It’s like straight from a movie, huh?
Look at the wild vines that took over the house, growing out of the ceiling!

Chris is such a great guy for Kami. He has such a soft, witty personality and this thirst for knowledge that is just so attractive:

After the sweet, abandoned house we did some athletic shots. Kami and Chris are huge *cough cough* Cowboys fans. I know.. ignorance is bliss. I was envisioning Broncos jerseys the whole time I was shooting. :) 
The light was so good to us. I spent the day shooting with Kami’s family and high school senior brother and kept telling Kami and Chris, “Just wait, just wait. The best is yet to come. The light will be worth the wait.” 
Kami and Chris, tell me it was worth the wait! 
During the final minutes of the evening, we headed out to the Colorado plains.
LOVE these!! Kami you’re so beautiful! These shots are so you, 100% you. So soft and sweet. 
Chris and Kami opted for a two day engagement shoot. Their urban session is in the works! Stay tuned. :)

I love the picture of Alicia putting the ring on his finger! It makes me think that that is what my wife and I must have looked like to others on our wedding day. Like the world around us could have stopped and crumbled and we would never know. The soft deliberate focus on one another. Another beautiful moment captured by the lovely Ms. Tate:-)
